Untitled Poem - Written July 28, 2007
taken back to long ago
when the stars glowed brightly
sitting under a great oak tree
feeling the bark upon my back
i looked towards the heavens
seeing the milky way
the big dipper, cassiopeia, the seven sisters
feeling the immenseness of the sky
the wonder of history
and the overwhelmingness of the infinite
i looked down and suddenly i was
sitting on a crystal ground that
rippled like water
i saw the roots of this great oak spread wide and deep
they clustered like a network of blood vessels
continually nourishing and cleansing and sustaining life
i closed my eyes and when i opened them i was back
with the feeling of the infinite
deeply rooted in history
creating a network throughout my life
when the stars glowed brightly
sitting under a great oak tree
feeling the bark upon my back
i looked towards the heavens
seeing the milky way
the big dipper, cassiopeia, the seven sisters
feeling the immenseness of the sky
the wonder of history
and the overwhelmingness of the infinite
i looked down and suddenly i was
sitting on a crystal ground that
rippled like water
i saw the roots of this great oak spread wide and deep
they clustered like a network of blood vessels
continually nourishing and cleansing and sustaining life
i closed my eyes and when i opened them i was back
with the feeling of the infinite
deeply rooted in history
creating a network throughout my life
